Privacy Policy

The short version
V1Journey has no account, no login, and no server of ours for your data to sit on.
Your routes, your destinations, your radar alerts, and your lockout zones are processed and stored on your iPhone. Alert display, muting and lockout matching all run locally and work with no signal at all.
The only time information leaves your phone at our request is when you compose a bug report — and you see every line of it before it sends, and can delete any of it.
The rest of this page is the detail behind those three paragraphs.
1. Who we are
V1Journey is developed and operated by Blaze8 LLC, a Colorado limited liability company.

V1Journey is an independent third-party application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a product of Valentine Research, Inc.
2. We do not have an account system
There is no sign-up, no login, no password, and no user profile. We do not know who you are. We do not assign you an identifier, and we have no database in which to store one.
3. What the app stores on your device
All of the following is held locally on your iPhone, under iOS's app sandbox, and is removed when you delete the app:

We cannot see any of it.
4. Permissions, and exactly what each is for
Location — "When In Use", upgraded to "Always". Location is the app. It's needed to draw the map, calculate and follow a route, record the GPS track that gives a lockout zone its corridor shape, match your position against your existing zones, and stream your speed to the detector for low-speed suppression.
The upgrade to "Always" exists so that guidance, lockout suppression and corridor recording keep working when the app is in the background or your screen is locked — which, in a car, is most of the time.
Your location is used on the device. It is not transmitted to us.
Bluetooth. Used solely to connect to your Valentine One Gen2 detector over Bluetooth LE and exchange ESP protocol messages with it.
Notifications. Used to deliver alerts and guidance information while the app is in the background — including the Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Notifications are generated on your device by the app itself. There is no push server, and we cannot send you a notification.
You can change or revoke any of these in iOS Settings at any time. Revoking location will stop navigation and lockout matching from working.
5. When information leaves your phone
There are four cases, and only four.
5.1 Route calculation, search, and traffic — Apple
When you search for a destination, calculate a route, or view live traffic, the app uses Apple's MapKit. Your query and position are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not ours. We never receive it.
Alert display, muting and lockout matching do not use the network and work with no signal.
5.2 A bug report you write — email to us
If you use the in-app "something's broken" option, the app composes an email to us containing your message and a plain-text diagnostics block: connection state, detector firmware version, which mute rules were active, whether CarPlay was connected, and the number of lockout zones you have.
You see the entire message, including every diagnostic line, before it is sent. You can delete any line, or not send it at all.
The following are deliberately excluded from that diagnostics block and are never included:
- Your coordinates or current location
- Destination names or addresses
- Your saved places, recents or favourites
- The lockout zones themselves — their locations, shapes or frequencies
The count of your zones helps us reproduce a bug. Where your zones are is your business.
Reports arrive at support@v1journey.com and are kept only as long as needed to resolve the issue.
5.3 Purchases — Apple
V1Journey Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment. We never see your name, card number, billing address, or Apple ID. We receive only Apple's confirmation of whether an entitlement is active.
5.4 Feature requests — the public board
The in-app "I wish it did X" option opens a public feature-request board operated by WishKit, a third party. Anything you post there is public, and WishKit's own privacy policy governs what they collect. Using the board is entirely optional. WishKit's privacy policy: https://www.wishkit.io/privacy-policy
5.5 iCloud
If iCloud sync is enabled, your lockout zones and saved alerts are stored in your own iCloud account so they're available on your other devices signed into the same Apple ID. This is Apple's infrastructure and your storage. We have no access to it. Apple's privacy policy governs it.
6. Analytics and tracking
V1Journey contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no attribution framework.
We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not build a profile of you. We have nothing to sell to anyone, because we collect nothing.
7. This website
Separate from the app, and worth stating plainly so the two aren't confused.
Mailing list. If you enter your email address on this site to be told about the launch, it is stored by Kit (kit.com), an email service provider acting on our behalf. We use it to send you the launch announcement. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you. We will not sell, rent or share your address.
Hosting. This site is hosted by Vercel, which records standard server request logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and operations, under Vercel's own policies.
Cookies. This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Kit's signup form may set cookies necessary for it to function.
8. Children
V1Journey is a driving application intended for licensed drivers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
9. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, most data-subject requests have a simple answer: we have nothing to give you, correct, or delete.
- App data: delete individual zones, alerts or trips in the app, or delete the app to remove everything.
- Mailing list: click unsubscribe in any email, or write to support@v1journey.com and we'll remove you.
- iCloud data: managed through your Apple ID in iOS Settings.
If you're in the EEA, UK, or a US state with comprehensive privacy legislation and want to exercise a right, write to support@v1journey.com.
10. Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes.
